چکیده
To the best of our knowledge, there is no report about pollen fertility progenies developed using eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) as a seed parent and cytoplasmic substitution lines parents. Pollen these very important to use restorer line in eggplant’s hybrid breeding program. In this study, was investigated for which were produced S. ‘Uttara’ assess fertility, stainability vitro germination ability investigated. Although nuclear genome almost identical ‘Uttara’, clear difference observed due parents having different wild Solanum cytoplasms. The functional male sterile (CMS) parent, whose cytoplasm donor kurzii, violaceum virginianum, showed release type high equal ‘Uttara’. It considered that characteristics same eggplant. PLANT REGENERATION IN EGGPLANT (Solanum melongena L.) A REVIEW
Eggplant is highly responsive to various tissue culture techniques. Somatic embryogenesis and direct organogenesis are widely studied protocols in this crop, but potential of regeneration varies with genotype, explant and culture media supplemented with different combination and concentration of growth hormones. The genotype is the most important factor affecting somatic embryogenesis and organ...
متن کاملGENETIC DIVERGENCE ANALYSIS IN EGGPLANT ( Solanum melongena L . )
Genetic divergence among 19 eggplant genotypes was estimated using Mahalanobis’s D statistic. Altogether five clusters were formed. Cluster I contained the highest number of genotypes (7) and cluster IV and V contained the lowest (2). The pattern of distribution of genotypes from different geographical locations into five clusters was random, demonstrating that geographical isolation may not be...
متن کاملAgrobacterium Mediated Genetic Transformation of Eggplant (Solanum Melongena L.)
An efficient variety-independent method for producing transgenic eggplants (Solanum melongena L.) via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation was developed. Two weeks old cotyledon explants were transformed by co-cultivation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA4404 harboring a binary vector pVDH65 carrying the reporter gene β-glucuronidase intron (GUS-INT) and the marker ...

(Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.): tissue culture, genetic transformation and use as an alternative model plant). Eggplant is an agronomically important non-tuberous solanaceous crop grown primarily for its large oval fruit. In popular medicine, eggplant is indicated for the treatment of several diseases, including diabetes, arthritis, asthma and bronchitis. Eggplant is susceptible to a number o...
متن کاملThe WRKY Transcription Factor Genes in Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) and Turkey Berry (Solanum torvum Sw.)
WRKY transcription factors, which play critical roles in stress responses, have not been characterized in eggplant or its wild relative, turkey berry. The recent availability of RNA-sequencing data provides the opportunity to examine WRKY genes from a global perspective. We identified 50 and 62 WRKY genes in eggplant (SmelWRKYs) and turkey berry (StorWRKYs), respectively, all of which could be ...
